Who we are

Welcome to Serle Court

We are a set of barristers’ chambers offering genuine expertise across a broad range of both chancery and commercial disciplines – in effect, we cover the whole range of what might be termed ‘business’ law, from offshore litigation about the world’s largest companies to domestic advice on probate matters, servicing a similarly disparate lay and professional client base at home and abroad.

Widely recognised as one of the top sets at the English bar, we are recommended in 21 different areas of practice by legal directories. We are also one of the largest commercial chancery sets, with 46 members, including 13 silks, and as such we are well placed to offer the right barrister (or team) for each case – something upon which we pride ourselves, and just one facet of our commitment to exceptional service which has seen us short-listed as Client Service Set of the Year at Chambers Bar Awards 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The aim of our new website is to inform potential and existing clients of the wide-ranging expertise on offer at Serle Court and, by providing detailed information on our members, to help those clients identify the right barristers for the particular issues they face. We hope you find the information you are looking for here – but we appreciate that sometimes a conversation is preferable to the written word. So, if you need any further information or assistance, please feel free to call us on + 44 (0) 20 7242 6105.

“…commercial powerhouse of the Chancery Bar” Chambers & Partners 2006

History

Serle Court is the product of an imaginative and ambitious merger in 2000 between One Hare Court, an established commercial set with a strong reputation, and Serle Court Chambers, then one of the leading chancery sets. As a merged set it has become much more than the sum of its constituent parts, offering acknowledged expertise across the full range of business law. Eight years on, Serle Court’s members have one of the highest per capita levels of recommendation in the legal directories, across a staggering 35 different practice areas.

In the words of Chambers & Partners Student Guide 2006: “The Serle Court story is one of élan, innovation and no little foresight.” We are proud to belong to an organisation born out of real vision, and we strive to do justice to the reputations of our former members.
