Rome I Regulation

Professor Jonathan Harris has contributed a substantial chapter to a new book to mark the entry into force of the Rome I Regulation on choice of law in contract. The Rome I Regulation will enter into force in December 2009 and replace the Rome Convention for contracts concluded on or after 17 December 2009. The new book, “The Rome I Regulation: The Law Applicable to Contractual Obligations in Europe” has been published by Sellier, and it contains detailed discussion and analysis of the Regulation by leading experts from around Europe. Professor Harris is the author of a lengthy chapter of some 75 pages which critically analyses the new provisions on mandatory rules. Professor Harris shows in his chapter how these provisions may lead to important changes to English law.
