Serle Court is delighted to welcome Thomas Fletcher as a member of chambers

Thomas is a prominent trusts and estates specialist and one of the co-authors of the definitive texts in these areas, Lewin on Trusts and Theobald on Wills.  His practice covers the full range of contentious and non-contentious private client work, including trust administration applications, breach of trust claims, contentious probate, family provision and professional negligence and taxation issues.  His work in these areas also extends to the administration of charitable trusts and similar structures.

Thomas’s practice has a strong international dimension and he has been involved in numerous matters across the offshore world, including the Privy Council’s recent landmark decision in Equity Trust (Jersey) Ltd v Halabi.  Thomas is called to the Bar of Bermuda (ad hoc).

Recommended as a Leading Junior in the latest Chambers UK Bar, Global and HNW directories for Chancery: Traditional, Trusts and Offshore, Thomas is described as “literally indispensable. A complete workhorse, he is really one of the team and rolls up his sleeves. He is incredibly bright and very diplomatic.” Legal 500 2023 refers to Thomas as being “incisive and analytical” in the field of Private Client: Trusts and Probate.

Chambers Director Kathryn Purkis, commented:

“We are absolutely delighted that Thomas Fletcher has joined Chambers, particularly coming as it does after the joinder of two others, Harry Martin and Sparsh Garg, whose practice areas are similar.

Tom’s reputation precedes him, and his practice fits at the core of our offering. Whilst he certainly is another bright star in our private client firmament, the range of his practice will mean that we are fortified much more widely. We feel sure that he will continue to flourish at Serle Court.”
