Probate

“Serle Court retains its status among the market-leading offshore sets, with extensive expertise across international trusts, probate and commercial work.”

Legal 500 2025

Serle Court is widely recognised in the UK and internationally, as a leading set for contentious and non-contentious probate, wills and estates matters.

Our barristers at every level are consistently acknowledged as “brilliant advocates” and “a delight to work with”. They are regularly instructed in major disputes and advisory matters across England and key offshore jurisdictions – including the Caribbean, Bermuda, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Lichtenstein, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Members act in many of the most significant and high-profile cases, including one of the most valuable probate claims (£100 million will) ever determined in England and Wales, Reeves v Drew & Ors.

Our probate practice spans the full spectrum of issues arising from wills, estates and trusts. This includes probate and trusts litigation and advice, and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975.

Probate matters often include multiple areas of law including trusts, property, charity, company and insolvency. With Serle Court’s breadth of expertise, our barristers use their inter-disciplinary skills and experience to seamlessly handle all aspects of multi-faceted disputes.

Always acting in the best interests of our clients, our accredited mediators are available to assist in resolving probate disputes through mediation where appropriate. We help our clients achieve effective, pragmatic outcomes outside as well as inside court.
