Chancery Master Appointment: James Brightwell

Serle Court is delighted to announce that the King has appointed James Brightwell to be a Master of the Chancery Division on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon with effect from Monday, 30th January.

James was called to the Bar by The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn in 2000. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2010 and Deputy Master of the Chancery Division in 2020.

Much of his work as a barrister had an international aspect, with a particular focus on trust litigation in Jersey and Guernsey. James is the co-author of the 20th edition of Lewin on Trusts.
