Commercial Litigation in Anglophone Africa by Andrew Moran QC and Anthony Kennedy (Juta Publishing)

Commercial Litigation in Anglophone Africa by Juta Publishing, covers the law relating to civil jurisdiction, enforcement of foreign judgments and interim remedies in Anglophone Africa.  The authors are Andrew Moran QC and Anthony Kennedy.

The book sets out in one place, in most cases for the first time, the law of sixteen Anglophone African countries on the subject areas mentioned above. The importance of these areas of law is that whenever legal rights and obligations are engaged in a transaction concerning any of these jurisdictions the parties to the transaction and their advisers will, from the outset, need to understand what risks they face. These include a court assuming jurisdiction over a dispute between the parties, what effect (if any) the relevant courts may give to a choice of jurisdiction clause in any agreement between the parties and what interim remedies are available to a plaintiff, such as asset freezing orders and search and seize orders.

Once a dispute has arisen between counter-parties, the book has self-explanatory relevance to litigation lawyers (both in private practice and in government) and the judiciary in the conduct and supervision of litigation.
