DIAC and the DIFC Courts – a relationship of inter-dependency, competition or both? 

On Tuesday, 11 November, Ed Crosse (Simmons and Simmons) will be moderating a panel discussion with representatives from DIAC and the DIFC Courts – H.E. Justice Sapna Jhangiani KC, Judge of the DIFC Court of Appeal and Robert Stephen (Registrar of DIAC). They will be joined by Rupert Reed KC , co-author of the DIFC Courts Practice (2nd Edition) and Adrian Cole, a leading arbitrator from Arbitra International.

The panel will discuss the Supportive, Supervisory and Enforcement roles played by the DIFC Court and its importance to DIAC-seated arbitrations. They will look at areas such as:

  • Anti-suit injunctions to enforce agreements to arbitrate
  • Interim relief granted by the DIFC Court in support of DIAC and foreign seated arbitrations
  • The recognition and enforcement of DIAC awards
  • Applications to challenge arbitral awards
  • The promotion of mediation.
