Serle Court is delighted to be a 'knowledge partner' at ThoughtLeaders4 Disputes: The UK Commercial Property Litigation and Disputes Forum 2024 taking place on Thursday, 29 February.

The conference will explore issues both perennial and recent that impact the field of property litigation and disputes.

Christopher Stoner KC will be speaking at 11:20 alongside Rashpal Soomal (Eversheds Sutherland), Gary Lawrenson (Osborne Clarke) and Liam Dunford (Point 2) on the following panel session: 

  • Understanding rights to light disputes and how they are resolved

The panel will discuss:

  • Measures to mitigate risk of disputes 
  • Effective remedies for infringements 
  • How surveyors measure the adequacy of light in a given area 

At 12:00, Jonathan Upton and Michael Walsh will speak alongside Scott Goldstein (Payne Hicks Beach) on the 'service charges and management in mixed use developments' panel. Jonathan, Michael and Scott will cover the following: 

  • What does the Supreme Court’s decision in Sara & Hossein Asset Holdings Ltd v Blacks Outdoor Retail Ltd mean for commercial service charges?
  • Management considerations in mixed use developments
  • Apportionment clauses following the Supreme Court decision in Williams and others v Aviva Investors Ground Rent GP Ltd
