Women in Wills 2022

Location: 30 Euston Square, London, NW1 2FB

Constance McDonnell QC will be speaking at a Women in Wills networking event on Thursday, 24th March 2022. The event will take place from 12:00-16:00 and it is one of four 'Women in Wills' regional events scheduled for 2022.

Constance will be sharing her experiences as a barrister and will provide an insight into predatory marriage and the proposed reforms to s.18 of the Wills Act.

This informal networking lunch will provide a relaxed environment in which to develop friendships and share knowledge, with an opportunity to hear from industry experts.

Constance has a traditional Chancery practice specialising in contentious probate, trust disputes, 1975 Act claims, administration of estates, and removal of personal representatives. She has appeared recently in several highly publicised High Court cases, including Reeves v Drew (a probate dispute about an estate worth £100m, in which issues were raised about knowledge and approval and undue influence). In 2016-17 she was Junior Counsel for the Respondent in the landmark 1975 Act case of Ilott v The Blue Cross in the Supreme Court. Constance acted for the successful respondent in Hirachand v Hirachand, in which the Court of Appeal determined in October 2021 that a CFA success fee can be included as part of an award under the 1975 Act.

Prior to taking Silk in 2019, Constance won the Chancery Junior of the Year award at the 2018 Chambers Bar Awards and was recommended as a Star Individual in Chambers UK Bar Guide 2019 and High Net Worth Guide 2018.
