GCR Live: Foreign Investment Control 2023

Conor Quigley KC will be speaking at the GCR Live: Foreign Investment Control conference taking place on Thursday, 7 December.

Conor will speak at 11:55 on the 'First blood from the EU’s foreign subsidy review' panel alongside Yelena Trifounovitch (Bredin Prat), Dimitri Slobodenjuk (Clifford Chance), Martin Farley (Legal Service of the European Commission).

The European Union’s new Foreign Subsidies Regulation has been heralded as the most significant EU competition enforcement instrument since the Merger Regulation in 1990. Foreign subsidy complaints are now under investigation and, from October, also notified M&A deals and public tender bids. What are companies doing to prepare? How are preparations coming along? What are the pressure points in the notifications system and the European Commission’s review? How will internal market distortions be assessed versus national – and Union – interests? Leading practitioners take us through how to get through to a good outcome.
