BILA Book Prize for Research Handbook on International Insurance Law and Regulation

The British Insurance Law Association Prize for 2013 has been awarded to Julian Burling, his co-editor Kevin Lazarus and other contributors for the Research Handbook on Insurance Law and Regulation (Edward Elgar Publishing Limited, 2012). The prize is awarded annually by the British Insurance Law Association Charitable Trust to the author(s) of a published work constituting in the opinion of the Trustees the most notable contribution to literature in the field of law as it affects insurance. The Chairman of the Trustees, Alison Green, presenting the prize, said "This worthy winner of the BILA book prize is a highly useful reference tool for all those wishing to read about developments in insurance law and regulation around the world. Its comparative approach is illuminating for lawyers, insurance professionals and regulators. The editors are to be congratulated on securing contributions from an array of distinguished academics and professionals who have combined to produce interesting legal and regulatory insights into the global insurance world."

Julian has also recently published Lloyd’s: Law and Practice (Routledge, September 2013).
