Rupert Reed KC appointed to the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) Court

Our barrister and arbitrator, Rupert Reed KC, a leading member of our Middle East team, has been appointed to the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) as the organisation looks to raise the country’s profile as an arbitration centre. The Board is made up of 13 senior international practitioners from a diverse range of legal and professional backgrounds.

The DIAC Court has powers and duties to implement the statute, to decide on the appointment, recusal, and removal of arbitrators, to supervise emergency arbitration and the review of awards, to participate in training conducted by DIAC, and to assist the Board of DIAC on its request.

DIAC aims to strengthen the reputation of Dubai as a global dispute resolution hub by providing effective and efficient arbitration and other forms of ADR on the basis of best international practices. Its Court is committed to those aims.

Commenting on his appointment, Rupert Reed KC remarked on the outstanding reputation and quality of his fellow members of the Court. He looks forward to working with them, registrar Julian de Lange, and DIAC’s executive team.
