Serle Court welcomes leading commercial chancery barrister
Serle Court is delighted to welcome Lara Kuehl to Chambers.
Lara was called to the Bar in 2012 and has a strong commercial chancery practice, with an emphasis on commercial, property, company and insolvency work. She has particular expertise in the intersection between her practice areas, such as commercial or company matters involving a property aspect. Lara is highly regarded for her advocacy and often appears against much more senior opponents, including silks.
She is ranked as a leading junior barrister by the Legal 500 in two practice areas (Commercial Litigation and Property Litigation) and Chambers and Partners recommends her for Real Estate Litigation. She is described in the directories as “bright, thorough, responsive and very easy to work with”, “an intelligent tactician”; “determined, tenacious and gets to the heart of an issue with practical solutions”; “incredibly diligent”; “a bright and hardworking junior” and “an assured performer in court”.
Before transferring to the English Bar, Lara was a solicitor in the London commercial disputes team of two US law firms: Weil, Gotshal & Manges and McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP. Between 2013 and 2015, Lara practised as a Cayman Islands attorney in the Dispute Resolution and Insolvency group at Maples and Calder.
Lara is on the Attorney General’s C Panel of Junior Counsel to the Crown and represents the Government in commercial, property, company and insolvency matters.
Lara commented, “I am so pleased to be joining Serle Court, a set at the very top of the commercial chancery bar with an outstanding reputation in all of my core areas of practice. I look forward to working alongside the talented and brilliant barristers here”.
Chambers Director, Kathryn Purkis says, “We are extremely happy to be welcoming Lara to Chambers. Her practice is positioned to fit in perfectly with us: she is a top-drawer specialist property litigator and she also has extensive experience in big-ticket commercial litigation, both on and offshore. As such, she enhances yet further our growing property offering and our established commercial litigation offering. We very much look forward to seeing Lara’s practice flourish at Serle Court.”
