The Honourable Mr Justice Lavender was called to the bar in 1989 and took Silk in 2008. He was appointed as a recorder in 2010 and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2013. He was the Chairman of the Bar Council in 2014 and was appointed as a High Court Judge in 2016, assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division. He is currently a Presiding Judge of the North Eastern Circuit.
Mr Justice Lavender practised commercial law at Serle Court from its formation 20 years ago. He acted in a wide range of high-profile trust disputes, including the long-running Weisfisch litigation in the Bahamas, which broke new legal ground, as well as big-ticket commercial cases, including the Hollywood film finance litigation, and high-profile banking cases, such as JP Morgan v Springwell on the mis-selling of investments.
