Ryan Tang is developing a broad commercial chancery practice across Chambers’ core practice areas, with a particular focus on company and insolvency, commercial litigation, intellectual property and charity law. In parallel to his English practice, he is also developing an active practice in the Middle East.
Before joining Chambers in October 2023, Ryan was an associate in Slaughter and May’s competition team after completing his training contract at the firm. Ryan therefore has significant experience of large-scale commercial disputes at all stages of the litigation process.
Ryan is developing a broad commercial practice, with a particular emphasis on civil fraud litigation. He has particular experience of advising on asset recovery and is regularly instructed by liquidators and litigation financing companies to recover company assets for the benefit of creditors.
Ryan is developing a broad practice in all aspects of “soft” IP. Such cases often originate in a commercial or chancery context, but involve an intellectual property element. Ryan regularly appears as sole counsel in the UK IPO, on appeals before the Appointed Person, and in the IPEC.
Ryan is developing a Middle East practice, focussing on the DIFC and ADGM. He is regularly instructed on commercial disputes in both jurisdictions, whether as sole counsel or as part of a larger legal team. In 2025, he assisted Max Marenbon in Arabyads v Alam [2025] ADGMCFI 0032, where the ADGM imposed a wasted costs order against his client’s former lawyers for the inappropriate use of AI in drafting a Defence.
Ryan is regularly instructed by solicitors on offshore disputes in Jersey, Guernsey and the BVI, particularly in the context of company disputes and unfair prejudice petitions.
Ryan is developing a wide-ranging charity practice.
