Jonathan McDonagh, the Fundão dam collapse, ‘One of the biggest legal claims ever filed in a British Court’

His Honour Judge Eyre has rejected an application to move a major group action from Liverpool to the Rolls Building in London. The case is a class action filed by SPG Law on behalf of 200,000 people suing BHP Biliton (an Anglo-Australian mining company) following a dam collapse in Brazil in November 2015, killing 19 people and leaving hundreds without homes or drinking water.

Serle Court's Jonathan McDonagh, alongside Mark Cawson QC, Louis Browne QC and Carly Sandbach (Exchange Chambers) are instructed by SPG Law and sucessfully resisted the application made on behalf of BHP Bilition.
