Practice Overview

Sir Raymond Jack was educated at Rugby School and Trinity College, Cambridge.

He was called to the English Bar in 1966 and practiced from 1 Hare Court specialising in commercial work. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1982 and sat as a Recorder from 1987 to 1991. In 1991 he was appointed a circuit judge and in 1994 he was appointed the first judge of the Bristol Mercantile Court. There he established the reputation of the court, case-managing all cases as well as conducting the trials. He also sat regularly in the Commercial Court in London.

In 2001 he was appointed to the High Court, Queen's Bench Division. He retired in January 2011, but has continued to sit regularly in the High Court in London on a part time basis trying business cases.

He is a member of the Inner Temple, and became a bencher in 2001.

The first edition of his book, 'Documentary Credits', was published in 1991 and the fourth edition appeared in 2009.
