International Mediation and ADR -  Spotlight on Latin America

Location: Online

Professor Suzanne Rab, international mediator, barrister and public policy advisor, will be hosting a one hour introductory webinar session on International Mediation and ADR. This event will be taking place on Tuesday, 22 February (13:00 – 14:00 CDT/ 19:00 – 20:00 GMT).

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Mediation on the International and Regional Stage
  • Updates, Trends and Future Potential
  • Mediation in specific dispute contexts: Company and Commercial Trusts, Financial, Regulation, Trade and Investment

The benefits of ADR as a cost-effective, efficient and more flexible dispute resolution tool to litigation have long been accepted. While arbitration will be familiar to litigators, comparatively less attention has been given to mediation and still less on a regional basis.

With increasing interest in mediation techniques to resolve disputes against a backdrop of court backlogs, and online mediations being used to deal with the challenge of social distancing, this session will consider the status of mediation internationally and in Latin America and its untapped potential.

Suzanne will also introduce an opportunity to take part in an intensive training and accreditation course. Upon satisfactory completion, the course will provide accreditation by a number of international mediation bodies.
