Location: Online, via Zoom

Michael Edenborough QC and Stephanie Wickenden will be speaking at the ThoughtLeaders4 Disputes virtual event entitled ‘Welcome to the Jungle: Civil Procedure Rules and Guerilla Duels’ on Thursday, 10th February 2022.

Speakers will cover dispute procedure and practice that relies on experience rather than following the rule book.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Effective pre-action correspondence - open and Without Prejudice strategy, sending draft particulars etc.
  • Creative settlement approaches – licensing and co-existence
  • Effective use, or avoidance, of press and social media
  • Choosing the right forum
  • Juggling multijurisdictional disputes - tips for quarterbacking foreign counsel/overall strategy/document and confidentiality issues from foreign proceedings
  • Guiding clients through the litigation process - “avoiding bear-traps and shooting oneself in the foot!”.

The event will start at 12.00 PM with Michael Edenborough QC and Stephanie Wickenden opening the session, introducing the speakers and giving some key thoughts on how the litigation environment has changed.

Mark Kramer (Potter Clarkson)Alexandra Pygall (Stephenson Harwood), and Mauro Paiano (Shakespeare Martineau) will each contribute their expert knowledge on the pre-action stage, the effective use, or avoidance of press and social media, multi-jurisdictional disputes, and creative settlement approaches - including licensing and co-existence agreements.
