Matthew Morrison and Michael Walsh to be appointed King’s Counsel

Serle Court offers heartfelt congratulations to Matthew Morrison and Michael Walsh on the Lord Chancellor’s announcement today that they will be appointed to the rank of King’s Counsel in March. Matthew and Michael will then bring the number of King’s Counsel at Serle Court up to 30.

Matthew has a broad commercial chancery practice, with a particular emphasis on civil fraud, company and partnership and insolvency litigation. He has also appeared in a number of judicial review claims and other matters raising issues of public and administrative law. Matthew has been instructed in proceedings in the Courts of the BVI, the DIFC, the Cayman Islands, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man. In addition, he has significant experience of assisting advocates in appearances before the Royal Courts of Jersey and Guernsey.

The directories describe Matthew as "Intelligent, personable, and has impressive legal knowledge. Capable of digesting facts quickly, thinking critically, and delivering commercial advice." (Legal 500, 2025) They also note that he is "a very smooth and polished performer. He is a formidable opponent, who gives absolutely as good as he gets." (Chambers & Partners, 2025)

Michael specialises in commercial litigation, property, asset recovery, civil fraud and professional liability. Known for his extensive trial experience, strategic focus and excellent cross-examination, clients have told Chambers and Partners: "Michael provides excellent client service. He is very bright, an excellent advocate and thoroughly enjoyable to work with.” Michael frequently appears in courts and tribunals at all levels and is currently acting in two cases in the Supreme Court and three cases in the Court of Appeal.
