Lauriston Lights - Serle Court Summer workshop

On 21 August members of Serle Court provided a legal workshop for Lauriston Lights, a charity which seeks to reduce educational inequality by running summer camps which bring together university students with bright children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The workshop, this year led by Professor Suzanne Rab and attended by Zoe O’Sullivan QC, Simon Hattan, Jamie Randall and solicitors from Forsters LLP, takes the form of a mock trial based on a real life dispute about the authorship of a song by Bob Marley. The children are assisted in developing examination in chief and cross examination, and they act as the barristers in the mock trial, while the barristers play the witnesses. You can see a picture of a workshop on this page under “external workshops”.

Serle Court have been running these workshops since 2013 in several schools in East and North London.
