Professor Suzanne Rab interviewed on the upcoming merger between Vodafone and Three

Professor Suzanne Rab was interviewed this morning on BBC Radio 4's Today programme and BBC Radio Berkshire discussing the anticipated announcement of a merger between Vodafone and Three.

Suzanne discussed how the Competition and Markets Authority may react to the merger, explaining that in the past, some regulators have reacted negatively to proposals which reduce the number of mobile network operators from 4 to 3.  She noted that there is ‘no magic number’ of networks that are required for mobile markets to be competitive.  She further added that the CMA will likely examine the impact of the merger on consumer choice and prices, the future roll-out of 5G technology and the implications for mobile virtual network operators in their dealings with the network operators.

You can listen to Suzanne's interviews on BBC Sounds, here for the Today programme (segment begins at 21:50) and here for Radio Berkshire (segment begins at 1:01:15).
