Serle Court welcomes three new tenants

Serle Court is pleased to announce that Claudia Barry, Richard Hine and Jon Turnbull have joined chambers as our newest junior tenants, effective today, Wednesday, 2 October 2024, following the successful completion of their pupillages.

Claudia has a broad commercial and chancery practice, with experience in commercial litigation, civil fraud, and international disputes. Before coming to the Bar, Claudia was a solicitor at Allen & Overy in Dubai, specialising in commercial and banking litigation. During pupillage, she was exposed to chambers’ core practice areas under the supervision of experienced practitioners.

Richard joins chambers with a developing practice in commercial litigation, insolvency, property, and offshore trust litigation. As a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, Richard brings a unique skillset to his practice. His previous roles include working at a Big Four accounting firm, serving as a Judicial Assistant in the Court of Appeal, and working as a Research Assistant at the Law Commission.

Jon is developing a broad Commercial and Chancery practice across chambers’ core areas, with a particular interest in civil fraud, company, insolvency, and banking and finance litigation. During pupillage, Jon gained experience assisting in three substantial High Court trials and an appeal to the Court of Appeal. Before coming to the Bar, he was a Senior Associate at Allen & Overy LLP and served as a Judicial Assistant at the Supreme Court and High Court.

Chambers Director, Kathryn Purkis said: "All at Serle Court offer their heartiest congratulations, and a very warm welcome, to Jon, Richard and Claudia. It is a very exciting time for all who are embarking on this incredibly fulfilling career. We wish Jon, Richard and Claudia, and all their contemporaries, every success in Chambers and in their careers at the Bar. "
