Q&A with Serle Court’s New Tenants: John Eldridge, Andrew Gurr and George Vare

John Eldridge, Andrew Gurr and George Vare join chambers as of 1st October following successful completion of their pupillages.  To mark them joining chambers, this special SerleShare aims to introduce our new tenants to our clients and followers and offers tips for future pupils and trainees.  

John, Andrew and George have worked on a wide range of commercial chancery cases throughout their pupillages.

Did you know?

Prior to transferring to the Bar, John Eldridge was a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Sydney Law School. He has edited three books and has authored over twenty other publications in leading academic law reviews. His publications have been cited by the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Singapore Court of Appeal, as well as in numerous textbooks, articles and reference works.

While at University, Andrew Gurr conducted postgraduate research on the responses of family courts to complex trusts in England and New Zealand (supervised by Joanna Miles) and wrote a prize-winning undergraduate dissertation on the enforcement of civil judgments and family financial orders.

Before coming to the Bar, George taught at a secondary school before working in the property department of Solomon, Taylor & Shaw, a boutique commercial/property London law firm. He completed the BPTC in 2020 (graded Outstanding) having been awarded a Major Scholarship and Duke of Edinburgh Entrance Award by Inner Temple.
