Legal 500 EMEA Rankings 2026

Serle Court is pleased to be recognised once again as a leading set in the Legal 500 Europe, Middle East, and Africa 2026. Acclaimed as having ‘significant strength-in-depth in commercial work, particularly in arbitration and DIFC matters’, our members are described as being highly experienced in the offshore UAE courts on major commercial and financial disputes at the silk and junior level.

We extend our congratulations to Max Marenbon on his recognition as a ‘Rising Star’, bringing our total number of ranked individuals to six. This highlights Serle Court’s strength in depth of expertise in commercial dispute resolution in the Middle East, with members regularly appearing in the DIFC Courts and in arbitrations under the DIFC-LCIA and DIAC.

Rupert Reed KC (Tier 1) has been praised for ‘one of his strongest qualities lies in producing clear, strategic advice and presenting arguments in a calm but persuasive way. In arbitration, he is particularly effective at simplifying technical points for the tribunal, and in court proceedings his written advocacy is consistently of a very high standard. His written work is always outstanding —succinct, well-structured, and tailored to the client’s needs.’

Zoe O’Sullivan KC (Tier 1) is described as ‘very tenacious. Punchy and persistent advocacy.’

Gregor Hogan retains his Tier 1 ranking.

James Weale KC (Tier 2) is lauded for being ‘absolutely tireless, he produces work to an exceptional standard and extremely fast. He has the ability to present a complicated case in very simple terms taking the court to the core issues.

Stephen Doherty (Tier 2) is highlighted for being ‘technically excellent, in particular in relation to the specific procedural requirements as well as the substantive laws of the DIFC Courts. He is extremely user-friendly, is comfortable handling challenging clients, and has an unflappable manner when on his feet.’

Max Marenbon is recognised for being a Rising Star in this years ranking. One client comments that ‘as well as having great clarity of thought that can cut through legal complexity, Max is highly attuned to strategic and commercial sensitivities. He places client objectives front and centre.

We are grateful to our clients and colleagues for their continued support and feedback.
