Julian is a general commercial lawyer whose main area of work is insurance and reinsurance law and regulation. From 1985 to 2010 he practised in-house at the Corporation of Lloyd’s and was Counsel to Lloyd’s 1995 to 2010, dealing with most aspects of participation in the Lloyd's insurance market, including insurance, reinsurance, insurance intermediaries, UK and overseas insurance regulation, FSMA Part VII transfers, regulatory trusts and insolvency.
Since he joined Serle Court his clients have included insurers, insureds, insurance brokers, Lloyd’s managing agents, banks and UK regulators.
He is a commercial arbitrator and mediator.
Julian is author of Lloyd's: Law and Practice (BILA Book Prize 2014) and joint editor of Research Handbook on International Insurance Law and Regulation (BILA Book Prize 2013).
